Camtasia 5… Not Such A Good Deal?

I picked up the special on Camtasia Studio to upgrade to version 5 for a good price but specifically for the Vista capable version… So now I have been using it to record some procedures for the upcoming intern program.

However when I produced the flash videos I noticed something differen’t from version 3… Camtasia no longer produces an index.html file and instead names the html file the same as the flash file. This is no good as you now have to specify the full URL in the web browser instead of just pointing it to a directory.

Any one else notice this? I poked around in the settings and couldn’t find it as an option. Gah.

    Jim,

I’m sure you already knew this but all you have to do is rename the file to index.html which of course adds another step but I usually change a few other things too so it’s not such a big deal and takes less than 60 seconds. I change the title tag from the default (Camtasia Studio 5 or whatever) to something more appropriate for the page and I also change the background color to white. Camtasia 5 will also FTP the files to your website.

It is a bit different than the older verisons when it comes to producing…

It took me a little while to figure out how to get it to produce as an .html file, but I did manage to figure it out. I decided to switch back to using camtasia 4…otherwise, I would tell you how I figured it out. Here’s techsmiths guide to producing in Ver. 5

Yeah I broke down and renamed the html files… Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
